This unique program is tailored for students interested in pursuing geriatric pharmacy practice. Developed in 1990 by the School of Pharmacy and the USC Davis School, this integrated program prepares students to assume leadership roles in academic, administrative or policy levels in the profession.
Specifically for Pharm.D. students who want to supplement their degree with courses in gerontology, this program is an ideal fit since the ever-growing majority of pharmacy clients are older adults.
The program involves gerontology courses taken during the third and fourth year of the pharmacy program and helps create and strengthen a specific skill set for working with older adults.
This 24- to 28-unit certificate program includes geriatric clerkships and a strong grounding in a core knowledge in gerontology.
