Earlier this week the House voted to extend the protection for recipients of Medicaid home and community-based services (HCBS) against spousal impoverishment, which is set to expire on March 31st. The Senate is now considering the Medicaid Services Investment and Accountability Act of 2019 (H.R. 1839) that extends the spousal impoverishment protection until September 30th and provides $20 million in additional funding for the Medicaid Money Follows the Person (MFP) program.
