The<\/span> USC<\/span> Family Caregiver Support Center is pleased to celebrate<\/span> the\u00a0passage<\/span> of<\/span> the Recognize,<\/span> Assist,<\/span> Include,<\/span> Support,<\/span> and Engage<\/span> (RAISE) Family Caregivers Act (S. 1028\/H.R. 3759). The RAISE Act was signed into law on January 22, 2018 and is aimed at providing more services and support to family caregivers nationwide.<\/p>\n

Many thanks to Sen. Susan Collins (R\u2010ME) and Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D\u2010WI),<\/span> and Rep.<\/span> Gregg<\/span> Harper<\/span> (R\u2010<\/span> MS) and<\/span> Rep.<\/span> Kathy<\/span> Castor<\/span> (D\u2010FL)<\/span> for introducing and supporting bi\u2010partisan efforts to pass the RAISE Act.<\/span> The new law<\/span> instructs<\/span> the<\/span> Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to build a nationwide strategy to provide family caregivers with more support, services,<\/span> education, training, respite options, and financial security.<\/p>\n

The<\/span> passage<\/span> of the<\/span> RAISE<\/span> Act<\/span> is<\/span> a clear<\/span> sign<\/span> that<\/span> legislators<\/span> are<\/span> beginning to take note of the concerns of an<\/span> aging<\/span> U.S.<\/span> population.<\/span> A coordinated<\/span> national strategy to address the needs of family caregivers will also help guide local and state support services. According to AARP, the estimated economic value of unpaid care provided by family caregivers<\/span> is $470 billion per year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
