Far too often your role as a family caregiver overshadows your identity and\u00a0emphasizes\u00a0the care you\u00a0provide for your loved one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.caregiveraction.org\/national-family-caregivers-month\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click Here to Learn More About #CaregiverAnd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Presidential Proclamation 2021<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The White House<br \/>\nOffice of the Press Secretary<br \/>\nFor Immediate Release<br \/>\nOctober 29, 2021<\/p>\n<h1>President Biden Proclaims November 2021\u00a0as National Family Caregivers Month<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>NATIONAL FAMILY CAREGIVERS MONTH, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>A PROCLAMATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"panel-pane pane-entity-field pane-node-field-forall-body\">\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-forall-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden forall-body\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p>Every day, millions of Americans provide essential care and medical assistance to their loved ones. These acts of love, commitment, and compassion enable their family members to receive the support they need to live a life with dignity. This has been especially true throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, during which Americans of all ages have made substantial sacrifices to keep family members safe and healthy. \u00a0During National Family Caregivers Month, we recognize the important role of our Nation\u2019s family caregivers and thank them for the invaluable and instrumental care they provide.<\/p>\n<p>While the opportunity to provide care to a loved one can be\u00a0a blessing and a source of connection, it often requires sacrifice. \u00a0Millions of Americans have sacrificed jobs and altered careers in order to perform caregiving duties. \u00a0Workers,\u00a0their families, and our economy suffer when workers are\u00a0forced to choose between their jobs and their caregiving responsibilities or between putting food on the table and caring for a relative. \u00a0Too many Americans who need caregiving support struggle with the high costs of caring for a family member in need, or providing long-term care for people with disabilities or older adults.<\/p>\n<p>My Administration is committed to strengthening American families and easing the burdens of caregiving.\u00a0 That is why my\u00a0American Rescue Plan provided an additional $145 million in\u00a0funding for the National Family Caregiver Support Program, which\u00a0continues to help State and community organizations support family and informal caregivers through in-home programs including counseling, respite care, and training. \u00a0The American Rescue Plan also provided States with additional Medicaid funding to strengthen and enhance their home- and community-based services (HCBS) program. \u00a0My Administration\u2019s Build Back Better agenda will\u00a0build on this down payment by continuing to invest in the\u00a0caregiving infrastructure for HCBS and increasing pay and benefits to address the direct care workforce crisis.\u00a0 I\u00a0will also fight to expand paid family and medical leave nationwide.\u00a0 Each of these elements is critical to better supporting family caregivers. \u00a0We want to see our Nation\u2019s paid caregivers, including the majority of home health care workers and over 90\u00a0percent of child care workers who are women \u2014 disproportionately women of color \u2014 have jobs that provide dignity, safety, and decent pay.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the RAISE (Recognize, Assist, Include, Support, and Engage) Family Caregiving Advisory Council, with support from the Department of Health and Human Services, delivered an initial report on how the Federal, State, Tribal, and local governments can work with our partners in the private sector to better support our Nation\u2019s family caregivers, and we will continue working to provide that support.<\/p>\n<p>As my own family members have been caregivers, I understand the struggles family caregivers face and the importance of the care they provide. \u00a0This month, as we continue our fight to expand access to caregiving, we recognize our caregivers who wake up every single day to do this physically and emotionally demanding yet vitally important work.<\/p>\n<p>NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in\u00a0me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do\u00a0hereby proclaim November 2021 as National Family Caregivers Month. \u00a0I encourage all Americans to reach out to those who provide care for their family members, friends, and neighbors in\u00a0need, to honor and to thank them.<\/p>\n<p>IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-ninth day of October, in the year of our Lord two\u00a0thousand\u00a0twenty-one, and of the Independence of the United\u00a0States of\u00a0America the two\u00a0hundred and forty-sixth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteright\">JOSEPH R.
