Register for the Geroscience Los Angeles Meeting (GLAM), a trainee-focused meeting, to help unite and synergize the geroscience community in the greater Los Angeles area through its trainees. The Los Angeles area hosts a rich panel of aging research laboratories, across top research institutions including (but not limited to) the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology, UCLA, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Caltech, UCR, UCI and UCSB. Our goal is to bring trainees together across these campuses to participate in this new and innovative platform.
With the exception of an established keynote faculty speaker, all talks and poster presentations will be made by trainees.
Traditional conferences and symposia tend to focus primarily on faculty presentations, giving only a relatively small place for trainees to present. However, trainees can benefit the most from such events by:
- gaining experience presenting their research
- meeting other researchers in the field, both their peers but also attending faculty, potentially kickstarting new innovative collaborations, and
- gaining important feedback on their ongoing work
This is especially important in the context of aging research, which is by definition interdisciplinary, and uniquely benefits from collaboration and communications at the levels of faculty and trainees.
