I enjoy collaborating with the students as they gain practical field experience. My goal is for the student to finish the rotation feeling that they are confident and supported in their journey to become a dietitian, as well as have acquired essential skills that they can use in any field of dietetics. Along the way, I find we both learn from each other.

Brittany Gurney, MS, RD, CNSCClinical Outpatient Dietitian

I like sharing my clinical experience with interns as much as I enjoy hearing what their area of interest is. My training style is both hands-on and collaborative, so I love to witness interns apply their knowledge and put the big clinical picture together. They provide me with fresh perspectives, and we learn from each other. It is also rewarding to hear from them after they complete the program.

Farika Reyes, RD, CNSCInpatient Clinical Dietitian

I have always enjoyed working with dietetic interns and having the ability to teach old skills and learn brand new ones. I appreciate our students developing in the food service environment and gaining a better understanding of the healthcare food service operations. Often, students do not know what to expect in this rotation. Once they hit the floor, it is a world of opportunities from learning to make pizzas, serving the front lines, conducting audits, staff training, and even developing spirit lifters to make our patients' day a little brighter. Precepting allows me to help shape and educate our future food service leaders.
