International Day of Older Persons 2019

October 1, 2019, 10:00 am - 8:30 pm PDT

The Leonard Davis School of Gerontology is leading the charge in raising awareness of this celebratory day by hosting events in 6 locations around campus. We have a full range of events celebrating research, impact, academia and community service. Join us for the centerpiece event on McCarthy quad, which will feature a rotating set of entertainment and engagement opportunities throughout the day.

Visitors can win prizes at each location: McCarthy Quad, USC Bookstore, Trousdale and Gerontology Courtyard.

Visit all four locations and complete our travel card to be entered in a raffle for an Amazon gift card! Plus, enjoy food trucks (with free In-N-Out & Amazebowls) at McCarthy Quad.

In the McCarthy Quad we have a marquee all day with rotating activities to get involved in:

11am – 12pm: Student debate
Hear student discussions regarding aging populations

12pm – 1pm: Music hour
Older adult community group performances with interactive sessions.
Music Mends Minds ft. the 5th Dementia • 5 Gossips & a Bassoon

1pm – 2pm: Networking event
Connect with people from different careers and backgrounds

2pm – 3pm: Movement & mindfulness
Older person led activity sessions to get involved with
Yoga with Krystal Walden • Tap dancing by the Snappy Tappers • Tai Chi with Diane Medskeer

3pm – 4pm: Craft for your community
Create handy crafts with the USC Alumni Association
