CPEU Credit for Preceptors

All RD preceptors who participate in training our dietetic interns are eligible to receive up to 3 CPEUs per calendar year. A confirmation statement will be provided by the internship coordinator with the number of CPEUs to be awarded based on student contact hours.

Preceptor Training Program

The Nutrition and Dietetics Preceptor Training Course provided by ACEND helps preceptors prepare for their role as mentors. This complimentary training awards participants with 8 CPEUs and includes seven modules. The Preceptor Training was revised and updated in August 2023.

I enjoy collaborating with the students as they gain practical field experience. My goal is for the student to finish the rotation feeling that they are confident and supported in their journey to become a dietitian, as well as have acquired essential skills that they can use in any field of dietetics. Along the way, I find we both learn from each other.

Food service has always been my area of interest and I love being able to share the excitement with dietetic interns. From test trays, to meal rounds and supplement tasting; interns get a well-rounded experience of what it’s like to work in hospital food service. Being a preceptor has helped improve the experience for our patients by fine tuning specific menu items and performing additional tray audits to ensure tray accuracy.
