I enjoy collaborating with the students as they gain practical field experience. My goal is for the student to finish the rotation feeling that they are confident and supported in their journey to become a dietitian, as well as have acquired essential skills that they can use in any field of dietetics. Along the way, I find we both learn from each other.

Brittany Gurney, MS, RD, CNSCClinical Outpatient Dietitian

Food service has always been my area of interest and I love being able to share the excitement with dietetic interns. From test trays, to meal rounds and supplement tasting; interns get a well-rounded experience of what it’s like to work in hospital food service. Being a preceptor has helped improve the experience for our patients by fine tuning specific menu items and performing additional tray audits to ensure tray accuracy.

Stephanie McInerney, RDPatient Services Manager, Dietitian

As a dietetic intern, I vowed that I would make it a priority to be a preceptor and help educate and teach the next generation of dietitians to the best of my ability. The USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology has given me that opportunity to help dozens of students during their internship. It is a great honor to be a part of this top notch program, and to help the future of our dietetics field.
