Healthline, Huffpost UK, Daily Mail and MSN mentioned a study by researchers at USC Leonard Davis on breathing exercises found to reduce levels of Alzheimer’s associated peptides.
Professor Mara Mather’s Emotion & Cognition Lab found that breathing exercises – when carried out for 20 minutes twice a day, for four weeks – slashed the amount of amyloid beta, toxic proteins that have been linked to Alzheimer’s, in their blood. “Regularly practicing slow-paced breathing via HRV biofeedback may be a low-cost and low-risk way to reduce plasma amyloid beta levels and to keep them low throughout adulthood,” Professor Mather added.
